Toyota has declassified the concepts of two new electric Land Cruisers (16 photos)

Toyota has released images of two new concepts that it will show at the Japan Mobility Show this week. Both vehicles demonstrate the electric future of the brand's off-road division, with both the Land Cruiser Se and the EPU pickup receiving monocoque bodies.

Land Cruiser Se

Toyota Land Cruiser Se, despite its name, has virtually no visual resemblance to current production SUVs. However, the new product is also only vaguely similar to the bZ4X electric crossover: the appearance of the brutal concept is formed due to flat body panels and smooth transitions. In addition, the Land Cruiser Se is distinguished by very narrow lighting at the front and rear and numerous black trims.

The concept dimensions are 5150x1990x1705 mm, and the wheelbase is 2050 mm. Thus, it is noticeably larger than the Land Cruiser 300. The cabin can accommodate three rows of seating, but images of the interior are not yet available. Technical characteristics are not specified either. The company only stated that the Land Cruiser Se is focused on urban use, but will not fail on light off-road conditions.

The exterior of the EPU battery pickup truck is made in a similar style, but it turned out to be slightly shorter with a larger wheelbase. The dimensions of the truck are 5070x1910x1710 mm, with 3350 mm between the axles. The production Toyota Hilux with 4-door cab has a length of 5325 mm with a wheelbase of 3085 mm.

Unlike the Land Cruiser Se, images of the concept's interior have also been released, which is not similar to any production Toyota model. For example, the only thing it has in common with the bZ4X project is a steering wheel with many touch buttons.

The EPU received a massive front panel with a developed shelf for small items, a large central tunnel with niches and two large screens. Visually, they are separated by a block of physical switches built into one of the displays, which is responsible for controlling the power plant. Toyota is also hiding the characteristics of the pickup truck for now.

Most likely, the concepts are designed to show what Toyota electric SUVs might look like in the future. At the same time, the company has repeatedly announced plans to convert the Land Cruiser to electric power and to release a pickup truck with a monocoque body powered by batteries. In the market, it could form an environmentally friendly alternative to models such as the Ford Maverick or Hyundai Santa Cruz.
