Geely presented a fast electric sedan with a huge screen (35 photos)
The Chinese concern Geely has released the third model from the “green” Galaxy line. The large E8 sedan has a high-tech interior with a number of unusual options, two powertrain options and five equipment levels. Prices range from 175,800 to 228,800 yuan (from 22 to 28 thousand dollars), which makes it cheaper than one of its main competitors - Xiaomi SU7. 
With a length of 5010 mm, the Geely Galaxy E8 has 2925 mm between the axles. The streamlined silhouette with retractable handles makes the new product similar to many other Chinese electric sedans. The characteristic features of the E8 were, perhaps, only unusual headlights and partial bumper lighting. However, the Galaxy E8 has an outstanding drag coefficient of 0.199, beating the Mercedes-Benz EQS and slightly behind the Xiaomi SU7.
The main feature of the electric car's interior is the giant screen on the front panel. With a diagonal of 45 inches, it is made of a single touchscreen, and is not made up of several displays. The display can be visually divided into parts. Available, for example, are both standard segmentation into the instrument panel and two media displays, as well as halving for video games with the front passenger. For this purpose, it is possible to connect gamepads. The media system is powered by an advanced Snapdragon 8295 chip and supports the Flyme Connect function - this is a way to integrate smartphones from Meizu.
Judging by the photographs, the Galaxy E8 will be offered with two steering wheel options. The first is an angular wheel cut off at the bottom with two massive spokes, the second is a steering wheel in the spirit of recent developments by Tesla and Toyota. The transmission selector is located on the steering column, which frees up space in the central tunnel for storage for small items and wireless charging. There is also a head-up display, several USB ports and 12 speakers, some of which are built into the front panel.
The new product is based on the global Geely SEA platform. The basic modification of the four-door will receive a 272-horsepower engine on the rear axle and a 62-kilowatt battery with a power reserve of 550 kilometers and acceleration to 100 km/h in 5.95 seconds. A larger, 76-kilowatt battery will increase the range to 665 kilometers. The most expensive version of the E8 will be equipped with a combination of two 645 hp engines. With. and will be able to reach 100 km/h in 3.49 seconds, but the range even with the most capacious battery available will be reduced to 620 kilometers. In addition, Geely claims increased stability of the electric car on the road: in internal tests, the Galaxy E8 passed the “moose test” at 82 km/h. 
A potential competitor to the new product, the SU7 sedan, from Xiaomi has similar dimensions and characteristics. However, with a high degree of probability it will be more expensive. Officially, prices have not yet been announced, but earlier a price list was leaked to the Chinese media, which indicated a price range from 230 thousand to 360 thousand yuan. Xiaomi representatives have already called this information fake, suggesting to wait for official data. Against this background, speculation began to appear that the cost of the SU7 could reach an impressive 500 thousand yuan for China.
