Specifications of the electric Hyundai Creta revealed (1 photo)
Hyundai plans to start selling the electric version of the Creta crossover only in 2025, but Autocar India, citing its own sources, is already publishing some characteristics of the electric car - battery capacity and engine output. According to insiders, the new Creta may lose to some competitors in terms of range.
Hyundai plans to equip the Creta EV with a 45 kWh battery. Potential rivals of the electric car in the Indian market, where its sales are planned, have more capacious batteries. For example, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will soon get a 50 kW battery, while the MG ZS EV SUV has a 60 kW variant. Perhaps the use of a relatively compact battery is dictated by the desire to reduce the cost of the crossover.
Hyundai Creta EV will receive one electric motor with 138 hp. and 255 Nm. This will make the crossover more powerful than the basic versions of the Creta with an internal combustion engine. It is also alleged that a similar engine will be used in the future on the larger Kona SUV in its most affordable modification.
The electric Creta will be based on an updated version of the crossover, which is due to be presented on January 16. In addition to the power plant, the electric car will differ from petrol and diesel Cretas in the nuances of its external design. It is expected that the global premiere of the Creta EV will take place in the middle of next year, and the new product will begin entering the markets of different countries as a budget electric model only in 2025.
