Everyone Says He's With Me for One Reason: A Woman Found Herself a Groom on TikTok (6 photos)
The Caribbean man, who is currently actively looking for work, is adamant that their relationship will remain strong.
Lucy Downes, 29, from Warwickshire, UK, has gotten engaged to a man she met while live streaming on TikTok. Despite the huge distance (about 4,000 miles), the couple are sure that this is a sign of fate.
People in the comments write that the woman's new chosen one, 34-year-old Glenny Phillip from Saint Kitts and Nevis (a state in the Caribbean), is thus trying to get a visa to the UK. However, Downes is convinced that this is not so.
Glenny lived in the UK for six months, and Lucy flew to Saint Kitts and Nevis for two weeks to accept a romantic proposal of marriage. Ten months have passed since then, and the couple returned to Britain again to get married, and then apply for a visa as a married couple.
"Everyone says he's with me for one reason. Like, he'll get a visa and leave me at the first opportunity. But they don't know our life," the British woman adds.
Glenny, who is currently actively looking for a job, is adamant that their relationship will remain strong.
"I love Lucy and her children - that's all I care about. When we met, I was just about to delete my page, but then I came across her. Before that, I didn't even think that you can meet someone on TikTok," the man says.
After the wedding, the couple want to apply for a spouse visa for Glenny so he can live and work in the UK, but it costs £5,000.
Lucy's parents were initially sceptical about their daughter's new relationship, but eventually accepted her choice. "We've proven them wrong. We know what we want," says the happy Brit.
