Y-wing fighter and Princess Leia's bikini from Star Wars are up for auction (5 photos)
Princess Leia's metal suit from Return of the Jedi and a model of the Y-wing fighter that attacked the Death Star could fetch incredible prices. Collectors will compete for the iconic prop at Heritage Auctions in Dallas on July 25th.
The starting price for the fighter model is $300,000. A similar 20-inch example sold last year for $3.1 million, according to Heritage Auctions executive vice president Joe Maddalena.
The lot on display is "extremely valuable" as it is one of two Y-wing miniatures used during close-up filming.
“Everything you see now is not real,” he noted about modern films. “It is computer generated. We offer the best at auction.”
Princess Leia's outfit from when she was Jabba the Hutt's slave in Return of the Jedi has a starting price of $30,000 and includes a bra, a long skirt with a belt and two bracelets.
Several models of the intergalactic suit were created. The actress who played the role, Carrie Fisher, found this particular option, made of resin and polyurethane, the most inconvenient.
The auction will feature a model of the USS Excelsior from the Star Trek: Voyager series and original illustrations of the epic. Plus, 25 items from The Sopranos star Joe Pantoliano, including scripts from the series, as well as the iconic Panama hat worn by Bob Denver's character on Gilligan's Island.
