A non-existent Volvo model was assembled from two old BMWs (6 photos)
The Swedish company has never produced a two-door version of the 164 sedan, but it was born thanks to a customizer from Finland.
From 1968 to 1975, the Volvo brand produced model 164. The index states that it was a 4-door sedan with a 6-cylinder engine. There was no production version of the 162, a 2-door coupe, although one prototype was reportedly built.
The author of the custom decided that he would have the second Volvo 162 in the world. The body was completely made from scratch. The lighting technology and, obviously, small finishing elements are taken from the Volvo 164. The line of the side glazing resembles the BMW 3 Series E36 coupe, and this is not without reason.
The chassis, interior and some external parts are from a donor two-door BMW M3. Despite the completely original body, the authors of the project decided not to touch the interior. It is completely from the original BMW. Except for the emblem in the center of the steering wheel, which says 162C.
Under the hood there is a V8 from a BMW M5 in an E39 body. It develops 400 hp, is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and drives the rear wheels. The dynamic characteristics of the custom are not reported. With the available inputs, it should be able to reach 100 km/h in about 4.5 seconds.
