Iconic 'Heroes of Might and Magic III' is Getting a Full Remake (9 Photos + Video)
Ubisoft has officially announced a remake of the legendary cult classic *Heroes of Might and Magic III*. Slated for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the remake promises to preserve the iconic formula of the original—including turn-based exploration, hero progression, and tactical grid combat—while modernizing the overall gameplay experience with refined mechanics and a revamped UI.
The biggest overhaul comes in the visual department. Rebuilt from the ground up on the Snowdrop engine, the game shifts from its classic fixed 2D isometric perspective to a fully detailed 3D environment with a free camera. The remake will feature 4K resolution support, dynamic lighting, and realistic weather and seasonal transitions. Audio design is also getting a complete rework, introducing character voiceovers, multi-layered musical compositions, and fresh sound effects for combat, spells, and morale shifts.
The package will feature the base game, *Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Restoration of Erathia*, alongside both major expansions—*Armageddon's Blade* and *The Shadow of Death*. This includes all original campaigns and all nine iconic factions: Castle, Rampart, Tower, Inferno, Necropolis, Dungeon, Stronghold, Fortress, and Conflux. The narrative will be unified into one seamless overarching adventure, complemented by a new tutorial campaign for newcomers and added story cutscenes. Players can take on the game solo or dive into online multiplayer for up to eight players, complete with updated matchmaking, simultaneous turns, and the return of the fan-favorite Hotseat mode.
Community integration is another key priority. The remake will maintain compatibility with thousands of custom maps and campaigns created over the past 25 years. An upgraded map editor and a dedicated in-game hub will make discovering, downloading, and publishing user-generated content easier than ever.
*Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake* is scheduled to launch in 2027. Pricing and an exact release date have yet to be revealed. In the meantime, the original *Heroes of Might and Magic III Complete Edition* has been made fully available on Steam for the very first time.
