Jaguar 1969 with a Supra engine and BMW suspension (17 photos)

The DevSpeed Motorsport studio, commissioned by the Eneos company, assembled an unusual “Frankenstein” especially for the SEMA tuning show - a 750-horsepower sports coupe with parts from vintage cars of three brands.





The basis was taken from the UK four-seater Jaguar E-Type model 1969, although from the elderly coupe on the finished car, perhaps only the body was preserved, but even that had to be modernized. The car was created with an eye to use on the track, so the rear suspension was rebuilt using a subframe and parts from the BMW 5-Series in the E60 body. The front suspension is assembled using Silver components.

Especially for the project, Rotiform developed and manufactured wide 17-inch wheels in retro style. They did not fit into standard wheel arches, so Jaguar received widened ones, 3D printed and reinforced with carbon fiber. The brakes for the front wheels are borrowed from the 2003 Corvette, the rear ones are from the same BMW “five”.

The original Jaguar E-Type was equipped with a straight six. The custom car retained a similar approach, but placed the iconic 2JZ-GTE under the hood. Farouk Kugai uses the same engine in the car he races in Formula Drift, so similar principles were used when modifying the engine. The unit was equipped with a forged connecting rod and piston group, a modified cylinder head, a Borg Warner EFR 8474 turbocharger, more efficient fuel system components, a Driftmotion throttle, Link G4 Fury “brains”, etc.

According to Kugai’s calculations, the engine is capable of developing up to 750 horsepower. They are implemented using a 5-speed manual from the BMW M3 E36 and a differential from the 5 Series.

The interior is equipped with unusual Tillett carbon fiber buckets, an OMP steering wheel and a new front panel with mechanical switches, and a roll cage takes the place of the rear seats.

At the exhibition, custom will have to promote Eneos technological fluids, including motor and transmission oils. What fate awaits him after the tuning show is not specified.
