Beautiful 1979 MGB GT restomod made from junkyard parts (14 photos)
A restomod based on a 1979 MGB GT is the winner. British competition Hot Wheels Legends Tour. The car is assembled from a variety of parts, including those that almost ended up in a landfill. Michael Wallhead's car will represent Great Britain in global final, which will take place in the first half of November.
The MGB GT is powered by Jaguar's V6 engine. Cardan author of the project picked up from Range Rover, suspension from Reliant Scimitar, brakes from Nissan Silvia S14. The throttle valves are completely taken from the motorcycle Triumph.
The interior looks even more exotic. Seat trim presents are fragments of old jeans. The glove compartment is made up of license plates, subject to disposal. But the most interesting thing is that this whole strange mix used components and parts can reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.2 seconds.
MGB GT was first shortlisted out of 10 among 274 entries finalists and then selected as the winner. Now the machine will try win the Hot Wheels Legends Tour Global Finals on November 11th. The winning car will be immortalized in 1:64 scale and go into production Hot Wheels toys.
