12 March 2024

1. A solid metal thing, I saw in the agricultural museum. She has rubber straps and chains

These are covers for the eyes of a bull or a horse, blinders.

2. What is this satin product with a lining, ribbon ties and a hole in the middle? Possibly handmade

It appears that with the help of ties, it can be hung on a wooden hanger to prevent light items from slipping off.

3. What kind of strange towel did they give me?

This is a decorative hand towel that can be hung on the stove handle.

4. I was given this small silver item as a pre-wedding gift.

This is a miniature wedding vase made of sterling silver, such as were often given to newlyweds in the past. One spout of the vase symbolizes the husband, the other - the wife.

5. Old wooden handle with leather part

In 1915, Paul Riessmann designed this compressor made of wood and leather to apply pressure to the abdominal aorta when bleeding after childbirth was too severe. A very simplified tool designed specifically for midwives.

6. What is this metal device with a metal tube that was found in the hospital restroom?

This thing is used for washing hospital supplies.

7. They are made of wood. The burlap-like material is dense but flexible. The straps are made of leather. What is this?

These are snowshoes, but, in my opinion, a special type, for dog sledding. I had a similar shaped pair with rubber straps that were great for running on hard snow.

8. I found some ceramics in a charity shop that had two small holes and was the size of an egg cup. I've never seen anything like it

This is a porcelain toothbrush holder.

9. A device of unknown purpose, metal, maybe for the kitchen? A circle of metal teeth at one end, a push mechanism at the other

This attaches to the bottom of the cane and is inverted for use on slippery ground.

10. Ceramic “jar” with a lid, found under the sofa in a rented apartment

This is an old ceramic heating pad.

11. Found this in our donation bin. We are a non-profit organization that recycles glasses and hearing aids.

Looks like an old hearing aid. The tie clip contains a transistor that connects to the hearing aid cord.

12. Something like a spoon with a metal plate and a hole

This is a soup spoon for mustachioed gentlemen.

13. What is this item of clothing and why is it worn?

This is a posture fixator.

14. Two plastic hook-shaped tools with double forks at the end. What are they and what are they used for?

Tool for removing ticks from animals.

15. A brass object with a screw-on chimney and holes in the lid. Hollow body

This vessel is called "marash" and is used in the Middle East. The neck is unscrewed and filled with rose water or non-volatile flavoring. The owner welcomes guests, inviting them to rinse their hands and face.
