One-of-a-Kind Retro-Styled Corvette With a Massive V12 Heading to Auction (10 Photos)
A one-of-a-kind custom Chevrolet Corvette built by Kindig-It Design is currently up for auction in the US. Based on a 2017 donor car, virtually nothing remains of the original vehicle following a five-year design and build process. Styled as an homage to the 1954 Chevrolet Corvair concept, the custom build is powered by a colossal 9.2-liter V12, earning it the name "Twelve-Air." Bidding on this unique machine currently stands at $170,000, with about 10 days left in the auction.
In place of the stock V8, the creators of the Twelve-Air installed a completely custom powerplant from Race Cast Engineering. Tuned to produce 650 hp, it is paired with a seven-speed transmission.
The car features a completely bespoke body crafted with custom aluminum panels. Beyond the generous chrome exterior accents, the Twelve-Air boasts a custom paint formulation and unique glasswork with a curved windshield. Compared to the original Corvair concept, the vehicle is longer, wider, and lower.
The custom cabin is packed with exclusive touches, including a steering wheel with a vintage chrome horn ring, retro-styled instrumentation, and a view into the inner workings of the rear suspension. The classic dual-cove dashboard design pays homage to early-generation Corvettes.
