Ten-year-old girl splashes water on a whale stranded in shallow water
The animal ended up in shallow water near Wathumba Creek on K'gari Island in Queensland (Australia). After calling the rescuers, the mother and daughter realized they could also do something to help the whale before they arrived—pour water over it so the animal's skin wouldn't dry out. Chantelle was even surprised to see how enthusiastically her daughter set about saving the huge creature.
After some time, rescuers arrived at the scene, but their help was not needed. By then, the tide had come in, and the whale was able to swim away on its own. Chantelle added that she and her daughter were incredibly happy to learn that the whale was doing fine. If the poor thing had been harmed, their wonderful day off would have been ruined.
