The design is capable of traveling at speeds of up to 15 km/h.
Interns at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing presented the BMW XM Label Soundmachine project—a mobile DJ stage based on the brand's most powerful hybrid crossover. Despite such extensive modifications, the vehicle is capable of autonomous travel at speeds of up to 15 km/h.
The roof of the 748-horsepower XM Label features a performance platform and a double-sided 6-square-meter screen. Each wheel arch houses a smoke machine, and the vehicle now features underbody lighting and controllable stage lights.
The equipment includes a dBTechnologies sound system with VIO C12 active speakers and VIO S118R subwoofers, as well as a Pioneer DJ console. Thanks to the crossover's traction battery, all media equipment can operate for up to an hour without connecting to an external power source.
A team of five interns worked on the project for ten months. This year, the BMW XM Label Soundmachine will be showcased at major sporting events, including the Nürburgring 24 Hours and Le Mans 24 Hours, as well as the MotoGP round at the Spielberg circuit.
