Olympics on Steroids: The First-Ever "Doping Games" Start in Las Vegas (4 photos + 2 videos)

While the International Olympic Committee has been catching athletes for meldonium drops and disqualifying entire teams for years, cyberpunk has officially arrived in the world of professional sports.

Right now, the Enhanced Games are opening in Las Vegas – the first competition in history where anti-doping controls are completely absent, and any stimulants, anabolic steroids, and growth hormones are not only permitted, but are part of the show.

The organizers of this madness have decided to play their trump card: why hide what everyone is already doing behind the scenes? Let's legitimize science and see what the human body is truly capable of when we let go of all inhibitions.

Forty-two athletes from around the world will compete in the following competitions:

Track and Field: 100m sprint, 100m dash, and 110m hurdles.

Weightlifting: Snatch, Clean and Jerk, and Clean and Jerk.

Strength Sports: Deadlift.

Swimming: 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly.

So, what's allowed at these competitions? The choice is vast and undeniable. Testosterone and any anabolic steroids are allowed, as are human growth hormone (hGH) and erythropoietin (EPO) for insane endurance, any metabolic modulators, and powerful nervous system stimulants.

The only taboo: drugs like cocaine or heroin (but solely for reasons of American law).

To lure top athletes to this fest, investors have rolled out astronomical prize money. Winning a discipline pays $250,000. But the biggest prize will go to the one who breaks the official world record in the main "royal" events (the 100-meter track or the 50-meter freestyle pool). For such an achievement, the organizers will pay an additional $1 million bonus.

The face and main ambassador of the Games is Australian swimmer and two-time world champion James Magnussen. He retired in 2018, but for the million-dollar payday, he returned to the pool and embarked on a powerful course of steroids and hormones under medical supervision.

According to him, he's already injecting himself with a thermonuclear cocktail of testosterone and peptides (BPC-157 and CJC-1295), and his physique now looks like he's been crossed with the Hulk. The athlete frankly admits that he'll earn more in two minutes of drug-fueled swimming in Vegas than he would in eight years of clean Olympic performances.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is already in hysterics, calling the project a "dangerous and irresponsible concept," threatening lifetime bans for anyone who even sets foot in this arena. But the flywheel has already been set in motion, tickets are sold out, and the startup behind the games has already gone public on the New York Stock Exchange with a valuation of $1.2 billion.

The event has already been dubbed the "Steroid Olympics" on social media. Users joke that watching ordinary people run the 100-meter dash in 9.58 seconds is boring. It's far more interesting to watch a pumped-up cyborg complete the distance in 8 seconds and accidentally beat a cheetah at the finish line.
