The mid-size electric passenger car is designed exclusively for the Chinese market and will go on sale next year.





Hyundai is methodically expanding the lineup of its electric sub-brand. Following the smaller Ioniq 3, the larger Ioniq V debuted at the Beijing Auto Show. Its four-door body measures 4900 x 1890 x 1470 mm and has a wheelbase of 2900 mm.

The Roman "five" is no coincidence, as the Ioniq V is not the global Ioniq 5 already known in Kazakhstan, but a standalone model that will be sold exclusively in China. It was developed there, including its eclectic design, which features references to Lamborghini, Cybertruck, and even the Prius. Structurally, the new model is based on the 800-volt E-GMP platform with a battery manufactured by CATL, providing a range of over 600 km.

The interior is dominated by a large, long multimedia screen on the second tier of the complex dashboard, shared by the driver and front passenger, while the instrument cluster has been reduced to a small strip at the base of the windshield. The sloping central tunnel is stepped, providing space for wireless charging for two smartphones.

The Momenta Mpilot autonomous driving feature, powered by a high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride chip, deserves special mention. It is capable of self-learning and offers increased responsiveness to changing road conditions. Mpilot can navigate city streets without the need for high-precision maps, relying solely on visual data and sensors, without being overwhelmed by the chaotic traffic typical in China, with its numerous scooters, delivery drivers, and pedestrians crossing the road.

The Hyundai Ioniq V is scheduled to enter mass production and enter the market in China in the first half of 2027. Beijing Hyundai will announce the exact trim levels and price list later this year, when pre-orders begin.
