Geely became the world leader in electric vehicle charging speed (7 photos + 1 video)

About a month ago, BYD unveiled the second generation of its Blade batteries and fast-charging technology, announcing that the brand's latest electric vehicles could now be charged from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes at high-speed charging stations. The Chinese company's achievement didn't last long, as competitors like Geely surpassed it. The latest version of their Golden Brick batteries, dubbed Energee, is claimed to be even faster.





Measurements showed that the Energee battery charges from 10% to 70% in 4 minutes and 22 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in 8 minutes and 42 seconds. The acceleration isn't dramatic, but the result is still better. The batteries were tested at Zeekr V4 charging stations with a peak power of 1300 kW.

The Energee battery, incidentally, is already ready for serial use. The upgraded version of the Lynk&Co Z10 electric vehicle, renamed the 10 and 10+, received the new battery. The five-meter-long car with a three-meter wheelbase is built on a 900-volt architecture. The 10+ version features dual motors with a combined output of 925 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The four-door model is equipped with a 95-kilowatt Energee version with a claimed range of up to 816 km.

The new model is now available for order in China, starting at 200,000 yuan for the most basic configurations.
