Sales of the updated Geely Monjaro and Preface have begun in China (42 photos)

Geely has launched the upgraded Xingyue L and Xingrui, known outside the country as the Monjaro and Preface, in China. The crossover and sedan welcome the new model year with a refined exterior, modern media technology, and a refreshed engine lineup.





The cars received new front bumpers, designed in virtually the same style—with large air intakes on the sides and large silver inserts. Even the shape of the air vents is very similar, albeit adjusted for size. Additionally, the color range has been expanded and the wheel designs have been updated.

From the inside, the upgraded Monjaro can be identified by its two independently installed 14.6-inch screens. They are complemented by a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and the infotainment system now runs the latest version of the Flyme Auto operating system. The Preface sedan doesn't have the new displays, but its operating system has also been updated, and the hardware now features a Snapdragon 8155 chip. In both cases, Geely has equipped the cars with a more advanced driver assistance system.

The Monjaro, as before, will be sold with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, but its output has been increased to 272 hp and 400 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is also available, but is only available on the top-of-the-line trim level for the Chinese market. The base Preface version has a more compact engine—a 1.5-liter four-cylinder producing 181 hp and 290 Nm, mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The most expensive variants will be equipped with the same engine as the crossover. The top speeds of the new models are 225 and 215 km/h, respectively.

The updated Geely Preface will be priced in China from 98,700 to 138,700 yuan, while the Monjaro is priced from 158,700 to 179,700 yuan.
