A tourist regretted visiting a pyramid in Egypt
A woman who visited Egypt admitted that she regretted visiting one of the world's most famous ancient structures. Her video from inside the pyramid quickly went viral on social media, sparking a heated discussion among users.
In the caption, the tourist warned other travelers that the experience might not be suitable for everyone, especially those with claustrophobia. The narrow tunnels inside the pyramid can cause panic and severe psychological discomfort.
Newsweek notes that the Great Pyramid is considered the largest of the three pyramids on the Giza plateau and the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Originally, it stood approximately 147 meters tall, but over time, it has shrunk due to erosion and the loss of its limestone casing.
Despite its impressive exterior, the pyramid's interior is surprisingly cramped. The structure's architecture rarely features wide halls. Visitors navigate sloping corridors carved into the solid rock, which become even narrower in places.
The entrance is located on the north side, at a considerable height from the ground. From there, the path leads down a sloping passage and then up to the Queen's Chamber and the Grand Gallery. Even the latter, despite its fame, remains a narrow and elongated corridor, and the deeper chambers create an even more oppressive impression.
