Home Alone in real life: A 12-year-old boy fought off a Christmas burglar (3 photos + 1 video)
On Christmas Eve, a 12-year-old boy managed to prevent a burglary. Tristan Taylor was home alone in Medford, New York, when he heard the sound of a kitchen window breaking and the sound of an intruder's footsteps. The boy climbed out his bedroom window and called 911.
Tristan told CBS New York: "I had to get out of the house as fast as I could. I immediately called 911."
Timothy Taylor's grandmother admitted: "We're so proud he was able to maintain his composure and call the police. He dialed 911 without hesitation."
Their neighbor, Mike Campanella, said: "I would want my son to do the same. When burglars break in, it's important to leave the house and call the police. You have to have the courage to do that."
53-year-old Christian Garcia was arrested at the scene of the crime. He was charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
He pleaded not guilty.
