5-year-old boy ran away from home to a cafe and now fears going to jail
An unusual incident occurred in Florida (USA). A five-year-old boy named William left his house on his own early in the morning and headed to the Chick-fil-A restaurant to have breakfast.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), the child climbed through the gate of the yard while his parents were sleeping and went to the nearest diner. The restaurant employees met the boy and treated him to a sandwich.
Officers Kelly and Perry, who arrived at the call, found William eating breakfast surrounded by the staff. When the police put the boy in the car, he asked in fear: "Are you going to send me to jail?" The officers calmed the child down and took him home.
The boy's parents admitted that they were shocked: they considered their house "the safest on the block" thanks to the fence around the perimeter. His mother Victoria noted that her son knows the way to the restaurant, since the family often goes there on foot, but she did not expect that he would dare to go alone.
William's father, Phil, added that he was worried about his son.
"I was worried that he might be scared. He was unusually quiet, and I could tell he understood the seriousness of what had happened," he said.
The incident ended well. The boy returned home unharmed, and the police and Chick-fil-A restaurant staff became unwitting participants in a funny, but disturbing story.
