In China, an unusual natural phenomenon – ice waves – was discovered on Hulun Lake.

Locals note that this happens every winter, when the water first begins to freeze. The ice isn't yet strong enough, so it easily breaks into small pieces and drifts with a loud crunch.

The same phenomenon can also be observed in the spring, as the weather warms.
