Police detain an alligator in Florida
Police quickly responded to calls from local residents who spotted an alligator on the roadway. To deal with the predatory reptile, law enforcement officers needed professional help.
The nearly 660-pound alligator "violated" traffic rules by blocking traffic. To remove the toothy giant from the roadway, seven officers needed the help of an experienced hunter. The professional hunter managed to clamp down on the alligator's jaws, while sheriff's deputies grabbed the animal's legs and tail. Together, they were able to load the giant reptile into the back of a pickup truck.
According to the New York Post, Florida currently has a statewide program in place to combat "nuisance" alligators. Residents can call in professionals to "remove" an alligator if they believe the reptile is a threat to people, pets, or property.
