Chinese carmaker Chery attempted to pull an ad for its Fengyun X3L crossover, which was supposed to climb the famous 999-step "Stairway to Heaven." However, almost immediately, the car's safety cable lock failed, causing the cable to become tangled around the right wheel. The car lost control, crashed through a protective barrier, and nearly fell off the mountain. The company officially apologized for the damage to the historical monument and promised to compensate for the restoration.
