A beard almost as long as a man: a US resident sets a unique record (2 photos + 1 video)
US resident Rudolph Martino spent 10 years growing a dreadlock-style beard. He admits that his views and values inspired him to do so.
The man earned a Guinness World Records title for the longest natural beard on a living person. The length of his beard exceeds the height of the shortest woman in the world by more than 30 cm.
"My dreadlocks are inspired by Indian saints and Jamaican Rastafarians, who borrowed this style from India," said Mr. Martino.
Given its length, the man takes great care to maintain it. He washes his beard every two weeks, and it takes two to three days to dry.
"Just as a tree has roots, branches, leaves, and fruit, so my hair is a symbol of my roots, length, and strength," he added.
Mr. Martino has no plans to trim his hair or beard anytime soon. For now, he wants his record to demonstrate the connection between his values and his choice to grow a beard, which he now enjoys very much.
