A tourist was scared by a close encounter with a whale shark (4 photos + 1 video)
A woman is caught on video panicking at the sight of a huge shark. On August 3, Jem Berroya was swimming off the coast of Cebu, Philippines, when the creature swam towards her with its mouth wide open.
She felt the shark touch her arm and swam away.
Berroya said: "I was scared. I thought the shark was going to eat my arm."
Whale sharks are famous for their calm nature, despite their impressive jaws. They feed mainly on plankton and small fish. These creatures are friendly to people and often swim up to divers.
Cebu is a popular tourist destination for whale sharks and snorkeling.
A shocking video has recently surfaced online of a thrill-seeker jumping on a whale shark and dancing on its back. The man performed the stunt near an oil company drilling platform off the coast of Abadan, Iran, in the Persian Gulf.
The local man reportedly jumped into the sea from a boat and climbed onto the shark. He sang and clapped his hands throughout the entire performance. When the shark began to dive deeper, the Iranian was not scared and rode a little more.
