A giant fish eats a shark with lightning speed in front of the amazed fishermen (3 photos + 1 video)
A team of fishermen could not believe their eyes as they watched a blacknose shark being devoured by a huge sea creature. This shocking moment was captured on video.
Captain John Brossard and his crew were fishing on a yacht off the coast of Goodland, Florida. They managed to hook a blacknose shark.
But the meter-long shark was not the only sea creature that was near the boat at that moment.
The fishermen also spotted three Atlantic goliaths ready to take on the shark. Because believe it or not, sharks are not the only predators in the ocean.
In the video, fishermen can be heard waiting for an attack by a giant grouper, which circles around its prey, and then it quickly jumps out of the water, grabs the shark with its mouth and swims away with it, breaking the fishing line.
Brossard later shared some details of this stunning moment:
“So we were catching sharks when suddenly two or three goliaths started hanging out under the boat, waiting for us to swim up. We just thought, "Wow, incredible! Something is going to eat a shark, and it's bigger than the shark." We were very surprised. He essentially grabbed the shark and pulled it away, breaking the line. We used 50-pound line and it wasn't enough."
He estimated the grouper weighed about 500 pounds (227 kg).
Of course, it's an honor to see the natural world in action, but the main thing Brossard took away from the experience is that sharks are not what they are made out to be.
“Do they deserve all the hype? “I think sometimes yes, sometimes no, but most often no,” he said. He. “Of course, if you find yourself in their path, on their territory, and the water is dirty, then yes, they will taste you to see if you are fit to eat.”
In the Florida Everglades, incidents of grouper attacks on sharks are not that uncommon, Brossard said.
“There are sharks, alligators, crocodiles, pythons, dolphins and manatees all in one place. This is the only place in the world where all these creatures are gathered in one place, and everything there is trying to eat everything else. For example, bull sharks are sometimes eaten by crocodiles, alligators, and simply larger fish. That's why we love fishing here. We love to catch big fish, predatory fish.”
