The construction of the crossing took 20 years.
The highest railway arch bridge in the world was opened in the Indian region of Kashmir last Friday. The height of the crossing over the Chenab River is 359 meters, the length is 1315 meters. The Chenab railway bridge was ceremoniously opened by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is noted that Modi's visit to Kashmir was his first after a short conflict with Pakistan, which, along with China, lays claim to the region.
"We are extremely proud that this bridge is a perfect blend of ambition and execution that reflects India's ability to create futuristic infrastructure in the most challenging conditions," Modi said.
According to media reports, the miracle bridge took two decades to build, and a total of $160 million was spent on its construction. According to Modi, the opening of the bridge marks a turning point in the development of Jammu and Kashmir. Trains will now travel between the cities of Katra and Srinagar in about three hours. And winter is no obstacle for them. In addition, the bridge is capable of withstanding frequent earthquakes in the region and wind gusts of up to 74 m/s.

The world's longest cable crane was also used to build the tallest bridge. The bridge was planned to open in 2019, but for a number of reasons, including the pandemic, its construction was delayed.
