A passenger caused chaos on board China Eastern Airlines Flight MU5828. On May 11, the plane landed at Kunming Changshui International Airport in China and was still maneuvering on the runway when the troublemaker pulled the emergency exit handle and deployed the evacuation slide. The young man appeared calm and told those around him that he needed some fresh air.
The passengers were unable to leave the plane for 20 minutes while the crew dealt with the situation. The man was met by police and taken in for questioning.
The flight departed from Changsha and arrived at Kunming Changshui International Airport at around 8:42 a.m. on May 11.

In China, opening an airplane's emergency door can result in a large fine — from 100 to 200 thousand yuan. The amount of the fine depends on the type of aircraft and the specific circumstances of the incident.

The emergency door incident isn't the only unusual incident in recent times. Earlier this year, a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai returned to California three hours after takeoff. One of the pilots forgot his passport.

That evening, the airline arranged for a new crew to fly 257 passengers to Shanghai, and provided meal vouchers and compensation for the inconvenience.

The flight arrived at its destination six hours behind schedule.
According to passenger Yang Shuhan, the pilot announced his unfortunate mistake and seemed very upset. A woman received two $30 meal vouchers at the San Francisco airport.
