A plane in the USA made an emergency landing due to a rabbit getting into the engine
A United Airlines plane caught fire in an engine. It turned out that a rabbit had gotten into the engine and ended up on the runway. The crew decided to land at Denver International Airport.
A United Airlines plane flying from Denver, USA to Edmonton, Canada, made an emergency landing due to an engine fire that had gotten into a rabbit. This was reported by the ABC channel, citing LiveATC recordings of civilian pilots’ conversations.
“Shortly after takeoff, a United Airlines plane caught fire in an engine. The fire was presumably caused by a rare collision with a rabbit. The damaged plane was carrying 153 passengers and six crew members,” the ABC channel reported.
According to the TV channel, shortly after takeoff, the plane landed at the same Denver airport, and the passengers were sent to Canada on another aircraft.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) notes that in 2024, out of about 20,000 aircraft collisions with animals, only four cases involved rabbits.
