An American fishing enthusiast recently pulled a 45-kilogram paddlefish out of the water. The fisherman and his companions were unpleasantly surprised by its appearance.
30-year-old Derick Henderson said he struggled with the fish for about 10 minutes. When he finally managed to pull it onto the boat, he was horrified. In front of him lay a huge paddlefish with several open wounds. Henderson assumed that the fish was caught in the boat's propeller.
The paddlefish's insides were visible due to its wounds, so the man called it a "zombie fish." According to him, it weighed about 100 pounds. Henderson examined the fish with other crew members and released it. The fishermen decided that the paddlefish would survive despite the severity of its wounds.
"Nature can be harsh, but the determination and will to live that animals have is very strong," Henderson said.
