A place in the USA where a railroad was wrapped in a loop (1 photo + 2 videos)
The Tehachapi Loop is part of the Tehachapi Pass Railroad system in Southern California, USA. The "loop" was built in 1876 to reduce the slope of the mountain pass.
The Tehachapi Loop is a twisting 1.17-kilometer (0.78 mi) spiral railroad in California that was built by 3,000 Chinese workers back in 1876.
Due to the difficult terrain, the tracks could not be laid straight, so they were "wrapped" around the hill (and the Chinese were hired because of the cheap labor at the time).
Today it is one of the busiest single-track railway lines in the world, through which about 40 trains pass per day.
