Volkswagen showed the concept of the cheapest electric car (13 photos)
Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. Every1 prototype, the prototype of the brand's most affordable battery model. The electric car has an unusual design for the ID line, a transformable interior, and a range of 250 kilometers. This model is planned to be put into production in 2027, and the electric car will be sold at a price of 20 thousand euros.
The developers call the appearance of the ID. Every1 timeless. The five-door style does not have any cutting-edge solutions, and this should allow the design of the electric car to remain relevant throughout its entire life cycle. The company particularly notes the front end solution, which stylistically should resemble a smile, the characteristic rear pillars, and the emphasized wheel arches.
The interior is minimalist: the strict front panel is complemented by a tablet-like central screen with a “shelf” of physical keys underneath and a small instrument panel. The two-spoke angular steering wheel received keys instead of touch panels.
The interior of the ID. Every1 is endowed with some transformation capabilities. For example, a passenger can install a removable table on his sector of the front panel, there is also a portable Bluetooth speaker. The rear sofa and passenger seat can be folded into a flat floor, expanding the cargo space, and the central console moves along the guides along the cabin.
Since the concept is more of a design character, few technical characteristics have been announced. The electric car is 3880 mm long, that is, it is about 200 mm shorter than the current VW Polo, but it is promised that thanks to the new platform, both models will be comparable in terms of interior space. The ID. Every1 is developed on a modernized MEB architecture with front-wheel drive. The compact electric motor develops 95 hp and is capable of accelerating the five-door to a maximum of 130 km/h with a total range of about 250 km.
The electric car, which will most likely be called ID.1, will be the final stage in the formation of a family of budget VWs on batteries. Already in 2026, the company plans to bring a slightly larger and more expensive model to the market. It will become a serial embodiment of the ID.2all concept and will receive a price tag of about 25 thousand euros.
