What a mechanical keyboard for writers looks like (5 photos)

Astrohaus presented an unusual mechanical keyboard Wordrunner at CES 2025. Its main feature is that it is aimed at writers, not gamers, like most such keyboards. The device has unique functions for working with text. Instead of the standard row of F-keys, there are special buttons for quick navigation through the document: search and replace, undo actions, move between paragraphs.
A bright red joystick is used to control media, which can be turned like a volume control.
One of the most interesting details is the two mechanical counters on the top panel. The first works as a timer for tracking writing sessions, and the second is an eight-digit "word odometer" that counts what has been written. The counter can be reset or paused if you do not want to count messages in instant messengers or emails.
The keyboard is made of polished aluminum, has backlighting, and uses Kailh switches with built-in noise cancellation. Connectivity is via Bluetooth or USB-C, and you can switch between three devices using hotkeys. Wordrunner will go on sale via Kickstarter in February, with first shipments expected by the end of the year. Price has not yet been announced.
