Mercedes-Benz and Geely presented their new and largest Smart (14 photos)
The Smart brand, which is 50/50 owned by Geely and Mercedes-Benz, has officially unveiled a new crossover with the index #5. This is not only the largest model of the brand, but also the most off-road - the electric car already received a version with a set of adventure accessories at the start. The premiere will take place at an exhibition in Chengdu, China, sales will start before the end of 2024. 
With dimensions of 4705 × 1920 × 1705 mm and a 2.9-meter wheelbase, the new product is larger than the Nissan X-Trail and Hyundai Tucson. The trunk volume is up to 1530 liters. The appearance of the serial Smart #5 has already been declassified thanks to certification photos from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Trade. Now the company has also shown a variant called Summit Edition, which includes additional lighting, side steps, an expeditionary luggage rack with ladders, underbody protection and a hanging box for small items.

The interior of the SUV uses three displays at once, which cover almost the entire front panel. The instruments received a diagonal of 10.3 inches, the central and passenger screens have 13 inches each. A 25.6-inch projection onto the glass is also promised. The media system runs on advanced software with elements of artificial intelligence: the voice assistant is able to maintain a conversation on abstract topics. A specially designed acoustic system of 20 speakers.

All seats are heated and electrically adjustable. In addition, the seats can be completely folded, forming a full-fledged sleeping place for two adults. In expensive modifications, the interior will be finished with genuine leather and wood.
The basic modifications of Smart #5, as previously reported, will receive one engine on the rear axle with a capacity of 340 or 363 horsepower, the top-end engines will be able to develop 588 or 646 hp. Two batteries will be offered: 76 or 100 kW⋅h with a range of 570 to 740 km. It is expected that at a powerful station, it will take about 15 minutes to recharge the battery from 10 to 80%. 
The first country where Smart #5 will go on sale will be China, where the electric car will also be produced. In 2025, the brand plans to bring the crossover to the global market, plans for sales in Europe have already been confirmed.
