Audi has introduced a new, third generation of the Q5 crossover. The model has changed radically, receiving a new appearance, a three-screen interior and a modern platform. The engine range still includes only an internal combustion engine, but in Europe all engines will be offered with a hybrid add-on. Orders are already open at a price of 52,300 euros. 
The Audi Q5 has been transferred to the new PPC platform, which it shares with the recently new A5. The Q5 is the first crossover built on this architecture. By the way, it is an optimized version of the previous MLB "trolley". With the change of generations, the Q5 has grown slightly in size: the length has increased to 4717 mm, the wheelbase - to 2828 mm, the trunk volume has increased to a maximum of 1473 liters.
The design style of the crossover has been adapted to modern trends, equipping the Q5, for example, with a huge radiator grille and large air intakes. The car's lighting supports customization of the "light signature" - several options are offered for both headlights and taillights. A small projector has been built into the rear spoiler, duplicating the brake light on the glass of the trunk lid.
The interior of the SUV, like the platform, is unified with the Audi A5. Thus, the crossover received a D-shaped steering wheel, a minimalist central tunnel and a new front panel, on which in the basic versions two displays with a diagonal of 11.9 and 14.5 inches will be located. For an extra charge, a third 10.9-inch screen will appear on the passenger side. The media system runs on the Android Automotive operating system. The Audi Q5 has been deprived of the climate control key block, but is equipped with four USB ports at once, while the rear ones can be used to charge both smartphones and laptops.
In Europe, the Q5 will be offered only with power plants supplemented by an electric motor of 24 hp and 230 Nm in combination with a 1.7-kilowatt battery. The basic modifications will receive 2-liter engines - gasoline and diesel. The first develops 204 hp and 340 Nm, the second - the same, but its torque is already 400 Nm. The transmission is exclusively a 7-speed robot. But if front and all-wheel drive are available for the gasoline version, the diesel can only be all-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h will take 7.2 and 7.4 seconds, respectively.
At the same time, a sporty version of the SQ5 was presented, which was equipped with a 3-liter unit with 367 hp and 550 Nm. The engine comes with a robot, all-wheel drive and air suspension with adaptive shock absorbers, available for other modifications as an option. In addition, the SQ5 has a slightly more aggressive appearance and original wheel rims up to 21 inches. The first hundred such a crossover will gain in 4.5 seconds.
Direct sales of the new product will start in early 2025. In the future, Audi promises to replenish the engine range with a full-fledged hybrid installation with the ability to recharge the battery from an external source.
