In the US, authorities hired an expert on "fat positivity" (3 photos)
The city's Department of Public Health has hired an expert on weight discrimination. The new employee will advise the city on "weight stigma and neutrality."
It turns out that the hired expert is Virgie Tovar, author of the book "You Have the Right to Stay Fat." The woman teaches "fat positivity" and body acceptance.
Tovar has repeatedly stated that she does not view obesity as a disease. She once told a story about how doctors pressured her to lose weight from childhood, but it was only later that she realized she was “in the throes of anorexia.”
San Francisco officials did not respond to requests for information about what Tovar would do in the department or how much she would be paid.
