Good deeds don't matter who you are (9 photos)
Stories about how people who seemingly have little in common were united by something that has no religious beliefs, no race, no gender - kindness. Remaining human is at the same time so difficult and so simple in the modern world.
Mark Twain also said: "Kindness is something that the deaf can hear and the blind can see."
Have you noticed such stories, when it would seem that in an hour of deep despair, someone you least expect can come to your aid. These can be unexpected words of support from a casual acquaintance whom you have seen a couple of times in your life, or even a stranger can extend a helping hand, seeing how bad you are. These are the stories we will talk about.
The Boy Who Survived
The photo where Danish Anya Ringgren Lovén squatted down to give water to a two-year-old boy from Nigeria was seen by almost the entire world. It was placed in all newspapers and magazines and supplemented with numerous fictitious facts. One of them was that Anya took the child to Denmark and adopted him there. This was not true, but his real story is worth telling.
The baby, whom the Danish woman named "Hope", was abandoned by his parents, who suspected their son of being possessed. This is a common excuse for families who cannot afford to support a child.
The charity organization Land Of Hope, founded in 2012 by Anya, became a truly full-fledged world for Hope. The boy remained to live in Nigeria under the watchful eye of the organization and changed almost completely. His hands no longer resembled dried twigs, and a smile constantly shone on his face. Anya, who became the boy's second mother, said that Hope loves to draw and has a creative imagination. And he's also very brave.
Two Winners
Cody Garbrandt dreamed of becoming a UFC fighter while everyone was making fun of him - his dubious past could only lead him to criminal records. But Cody was sure that he would win, because he promised his guardian angel. And it's not about higher powers.
He promised victory to Maddox Maple - a young guy with leukemia. They met by chance when the athlete saw news about a sick fellow countryman on the Internet and decided to support his parents. And then he decided to come to Maddox in person. They locked themselves in a room and talked about something for a long time, and when Cody came out of the room, he said: Maddox will continue the treatment he refused, and Cody will return to the ring to win for him.
"I will win the championship belt for you, and you will defeat cancer. Promise me"
A few months passed when Maddox burst into tears from the emotions that overwhelmed him: Cody defeated Dominick Cruz, who had not lost in 10 years before.
Cody hung the championship belt in his new friend's bedroom, because he also won. Take that, stupid cancer!
According to Cody, the boy helped him radically change his life at the moment when he needed it.
If family doesn't help, a friend will
John Relph and Kaid Mohammed became friends even before they thought about what exactly they meant by "faith in God." When they got older and decided on their religions, they closed the issue and did not discuss it. At the same time, when John ended up in the hospital, he did not care at all what tradition his friend prayed for him according to. What difference does it make if a kidney fails from diabetes. A transplant was needed.
The donor must not only be healthy, but also alive. John asked his two brothers, but they flatly refused. John's wife's kidney was not a match. A few more days later, Relph realized that he had very little time left and wrote his friend Kaid a farewell letter.
And soon John received a call: "a donor has been found for you!" He arrived at the hospital and saw Mohammed there: "Why didn't you tell me right away?! If your family can't help you, then I will." The compatibility was perfect and they were discharged from the hospital at the same time.
Relph and Mohammed declined interviews after the story broke, and John would only tell reporters: "Qaid is a living example to me that heroes exist."
"We are both strong"
August 2016. It was a qualifying race for potential participants in the Summer Olympics. Abby D'Agostino (USA) and Nikki Hamblin (New Zealand) started the competition and the first seconds of the race are usually very important. They made a simultaneous jerk, followed by a collision, a fall of both and a sharp pain.
Nikki almost immediately got up and wanted to continue the race, but saw that Abby was lying on the track and suffering from unbearable pain. Hamblin looked at the other competitors leaving and ... extended her hand to D'Agostino to help her up. The girl stood up and even limped, tried to continue running, but she could not even walk normally. Abby and Nikki both lost the race.
The crowd in the stands exploded in applause, almost everyone didn't care who won the race - everyone was looking at the girls who finished together.
"We're both strong competitors, we wanted to show the best result on the track," Hamblin said, "but this is special for both of us."
They didn't know each other before the competition, but their humanity was worth more than any medal.
