A resident of the city of Chengdu, surnamed Wang, could not pay his debt, and the case went to court. After that, the man decided to get on the path of correction and paid half of the debt, so much so that he was fined again.
He paid the first half on the spot, and then two days later returned to the court with three bags of change. And since they did not believe his word of honor that there were 10,000 yuan in there, they had to recount it.
Representatives of the court, together with bank employees, counted the coins for three hours. There was no coin counting machine in the courthouse.
Their total amount was 8489 yuan. More than 1400 yuan in coins, many of which were so damaged that they simply refused to accept them. By the way, his total debt was 20,000 yuan, imagine if he had brought the entire amount in coins at once.
After the counting was finished, and the people counting were already dazzled by the change, the Chengdu Longquan County People's Court ruled that it was wrong to bully people like this.
It ruled that Wang's attempt to pay with bags of coins was an intentional obstruction of the enforcement process and a waste of judicial resources. However, given that Wang eventually paid the remaining amount and expressed remorse, the court fined him 2,000 yuan.
The coin lover paid the fine in full that same day.
