13-year-old twins in China win lawsuit against father, demanding from him the return of the money he had donated. The man took money from his children after he divorced their mother, who takes care of them completely.







A court in China ordered a father to return 16,800 yuan (173,000 rubles) that their mother gave them, and which he took from his 13-year-olds son and daughter, leaving home. A man named Zhou from Xuzhou City in east China's Jiangsu province took money from his children after divorced from their mother, Wu, who is now completely takes care of the twins.

The dispute started in January 2020 when Zhou took money from twins, saying that he would take care of them because they were minors. The twins did not want to give money to their father and subsequently asked him to return them, but Zhou refused.





At the end of last year, the twins, with the approval of their mother, decided file a lawsuit in the local court, demanding that Zhou return his money. Because the their mother, as their legal guardian, supported their decision to file a lawsuit, the court accepted the application for consideration. On January 14, the court issued a decision on that the donated money is personal property, protected Chinese Civil Code.

The court decided that Zhou violated the twins' legal rights, and ruled that he should pay 8,000 yuan to his son and 8,800 yuan of his daughter within 15 days after the court decision.
