Meet the three-lined Madagascar skink. At first glance, they look like bizarre snakes with tiny legs, but skinks are actually lizards. Their legs are so minuscule because their ancestors adapted to a burrowing, underground lifestyle, causing their limbs to gradually shrink over generations. If evolution picks up the pace just a bit, these little guys might finally turn into full-fledged snakes.
