A Chinese man drove an electric BYD for 500,000 kilometers and received a new electric car as a gift (2 photos)
In China, they discovered the owner of a BYD Han electric car, who drove it 500 thousand kilometers in just three years. The company that learned about this gave the “truck driver” a new electric car. 
A Chinese man named Zhong switched to an electric car in 2020; before that, he only used cars with internal combustion engines. Zhong preferred the flagship version of BYD Han EV with two electric motors.
It is alleged that, despite the serious mileage, the electric car did not require replacement of the traction battery, motors or other elements of power electronics. According to Zhong, he only repaired his car a couple of times after being involved in accidents. However, the batteries' ability to store energy over such a mileage has nevertheless decreased. If on the new Han EV Zhong could travel up to 550 kilometers without recharging, now the charge is only enough for 400 kilometers.
With the new electric car, Zhong will be able to update his own record, since BYD gave him a restyled, improved version of Han EV. The modernized model is equipped with a 517-horsepower engine instead of the previous 494-horsepower, and the battery capacity has increased from 76.9 to 85.4 kWh. Accordingly, the rated range has increased to 610 kilometers on a single charge.
