Huawei's largest electric crossover goes on sale (37 photos)
The Aito brand, created by Huawei and Seres, has launched sales of its flagship model in China. The full-size M9 will have a six-seat cabin with multiple screens and two powertrain options: electric and sequential hybrid. The new product turned out to be expensive: in China, an electric SUV will cost from 469,800 to 569,800 yuan.
The crossover dimensions are 5230x1999x1800 mm with a wheelbase of 3110 mm. Thus, it is approximately 100 mm larger than the BMW X7 and almost 200 mm larger than the current Range Rover, while in some stylistic solutions it resembles the Mercedes-Benz GLS. A distinctive feature of the discreet appearance of the M9 should be pixel inserts in the optics, capable of generating simple animation.
The front part of the crossover cabin will be equipped with three screens at once. The central diagonal is 15.6 inches, the passenger will get a 16-inch display, the instrument panel with a diagonal of 12.3 inches will be the most compact. More expensive equipment options will have more screens. For example, a 75-inch projection on the windshield and 10-inch monitors for each of the rear passengers will be added. All media equipment runs on Huawei’s own operating system. The developers specifically mention the 716-liter trunk and more than 40 places for small items scattered throughout the cabin.
All modifications of the Aito M9 will be all-wheel drive. The hybrid has 496 hp electric motors. s., 1.5-liter gasoline generator and two batteries of 42 or 52 kWh. The electric range will be from 225 to 275 km; when connecting to an internal combustion engine, the crossover will travel up to 1,400 km. The purely electric modification has 530 horsepower and a 97-kilowatt battery for 630 km. Acceleration to 100 km/h will take 4.9 or 4.3 seconds depending on the type of power plant.
The crossovers will be assembled at Seres facilities. Within the framework of this project, the Huawei concern undertakes not only the development of software and electronics, but also sales - the Aito line is sold through a network of Huawei branded stores. By the end of 2024, their number in China should reach 800.
