According to eyewitnesses, over 20 people were injured as a result of the shooting.
An attacker opened fire with an automatic rifle with a telescope at the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University in central Prague. The man moved along the fourth floor and shot everyone in his path.
“We always thought that similar terrorist attacks occur in the United States, but now it turns out that we also have problems with lone shooters,” said Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda.
The shooter and students hiding on the eaves of the building
According to preliminary data, the terrorist shot three people and wounded 20 more people. After the sound of gunfire, students on the upper floors barricaded themselves in the classrooms. Others were less fortunate; they did not have time to close the doors and had to climb out through the window and save themselves on the ledge of the building. Eyewitnesses report that one of the girls fell from the ledge and fell to her death. If this information is confirmed, the number of victims will increase to four people.
People run out of the university in panic
The shooting was reported to be brief but intense. After police cars began arriving at the university, the shooter shot himself. Eyewitnesses said this. According to the mayor of Svoboda, he fell from the upper floors and died.
As it became known, the attacker’s name is David Kozak, he is a student at the Faculty of History at Charles University. It is alleged that he had psychological problems and shortly before the attack on the university he killed his own father.
UPD: according to Prague doctors, 11 people died, including Kozak. Another 30 were injured, nine of them are in serious condition.
