Everyone's face to the floor: riot police raided the Zero People concert
In the summer of 2023, pro-Kremlin activists of the Call of the People movement complained against members of the Animal Jazz group for anti-Russian statements. After this, the Animal Jazz concerts were canceled, and the two members created a new group called Zero People.
Alexander Krasovitsky, together with his partner Alexander Zarankin, created the group Zero People after Animal Jazz tours began to be disrupted due to anti-Russian statements. Krasovitsky called Russia “toxic” and “abusive.”
The location of Zero People's performance was kept secret until the very end. The participants feared that the concert would be disrupted just like the Animal Jazz concerts this summer. But no tricks helped to avoid this. On November 9, riot police descended on the club where Zero People were performing.
Right before the start of the concert in St. Petersburg, riot police descended on the Cosmonaut club. All visitors were placed on the floor. The concert was cancelled. Security forces checked documents and talked with club visitors. Krasovitsky and another musician, Alexander Zarankin, were taken away by security officers for a conversation.
Some fans of the group even managed to get into a fight with riot police.
Later, the band members got in touch and said that the concert in St. Petersburg would be held on another day. They apologized.
Russia of the 21st century, that’s what it is.
