In China, a woman gave birth to three children to avoid prison (3 photos)
An investigation has revealed that a Chinese woman convicted of fraud gave away newborns and had not been in a relationship with their father for a long time.
A Chinese woman known by the pseudonym Chen Hong was sentenced to five years in prison for fraud in December 2020. However, she managed to escape life on the outside. Instead of spending time in prison, Chen found a legal loophole that allowed her to remain free.
The fact is that in China, prisoners who suffer from serious illnesses, are pregnant, have newborn children, or are unable to live independently are allowed to temporarily serve their sentences outside of prison. They usually work in a community correctional service or at home under the supervision of law enforcement. Criminals serving time outside of prison are required to submit reports on the status of their illness or pregnancy every three months.
During one such inspection in May, a prosecutor discovered that Cheng, who had just given birth to her third child, was not living with him. Moreover, the girl was no longer married to her husband, and her first two children were living with their father.
Local prosecutors found that the scammer used her pregnancy as an excuse to avoid prison. They initially wanted to put Cheng in jail, but because she had less than a year left before her release, they sent her to a detention center. Currently, prosecutors and local law enforcement are trying to convince the scammer that she must serve her prison term legally.
