In honor of the 50th anniversary of the rally Datsun 240Z, Nissan built a rally Z (20 photos)
The Japanese automaker Nissan, together with the Tommy Pike Customs studio, developed an unusual sports car for the SEMA exhibition based on the current Nissan Z coupe. It is dedicated to one of the heroes of the concern's sports history - the Datsun 240Z, which won the East African Safari rally in 1971.
The Tribute's suspension was strengthened with KW and Nismo components, while at the same time adding 50 mm to the ground clearance. This made it possible to install original 17-inch wheels with high-profile Yokohama Geolandar tires on the coupe.
The front bumper and underbody received protective plates. The body is equipped with six diode spotlights for additional light: on the hood, bumper and A-pillars. In addition, the body is decorated with a livery styled after the design of the original Datsun 240Z. The interior now features Recaro Pole Position buckets with four-point harnesses, as well as a navigator's tablet with a 1971 rally map and instruments from the same era.
The tuners said that they had also improved the power unit - a manual transmission and a 3-liter V6. Now, according to Tommy Pike Customs, it develops more than the standard 400 horsepower, although it is not specified by how much.
