Toyota brought the FT-Se electric sports car concept to the exhibition (8 photos)
A week ago we wrote about Toyota’s new electric sports car concept, and today a sample was presented at the Tokyo Japan Mobility Show. This is an attempt to imagine what battery-powered sports cars might look like in the near future. At the same time, no technical characteristics are named: the coupe, in fact, is a purely design project.
Externally, the FT-Se is not similar to any current Toyota electric car: it uses its own design style. At the same time, the silhouette of the electric car resembles a gasoline coupe with a mid-engine layout and, if launched into series, could be considered the ideological heir to the iconic MR-2. The aggressive design with many facets is complemented by vertical running lights at the front and horizontal thread-like lighting at the rear. In some renderings, the electric car is equipped with a large wing.
The two-seat interior with Recaro buckets is divided in half by a massive console and trimmed in original blue wicker. Media equipment is represented by three displays at once, but unlike modern trends they are compact. The screens on both sides of the helm look no larger than a regular smartphone, and the instrument panel is located far towards the windshield.
Toyota said that in the future, such sports cars will become adaptive and “will grow with the driver.” Most likely, this means the gradual availability of access to new functions with software updates.
In addition, it was announced that the racing experience accumulated by the Toyota Gazoo Racing division would be used in the design of the concept.
