A rollercoaster ride in a Welsh seaside town derailed on Wednesday evening, injuring 13 children and one adult.
Emergency services were called to Coney Beach Theme Park in Porthcawl, Bridgend, at 5.50pm after an accident on the Wacky Worm ride. Thrill-seekers, including children, were left bloodied after the incident, according to eyewitnesses.
South Wales Police said: "Officers attended Coney Beach Theme Park in Porthcawl, Bridgend, at around 5.50pm this evening following an incident involving a ride. It has now been confirmed that 13 children and one adult have sustained minor injuries. Some have required hospital treatment."
The park has been closed pending investigation. It has been determined that the ride is owned by a third party and not the park.
The park wrote: "We apologise for the incident and will refund affected guests as soon as possible. Refund instructions will be issued shortly. Thank you for your understanding."
""The Happy Worm" is the perfect choice for children's first exciting ride. This small roller coaster will give them unforgettable emotions and make them scream with delight," says the description of the ill-fated entertainment.

The incident comes shortly after the Apollo 13 ride at Newquay Fairgrounds in Cornwall broke down, leaving festival-goers upside down for about 20 minutes.
What was supposed to be one of the highlights of the music and surfing event turned into a nightmare on August 8. The footage shows Apollo 13 coming to a stop vertically, towering over the bustling festival. Passers-by watch in horror.
A representative of the event commented: "One of the rides experienced a temporary power outage. For safety reasons, the ride automatically stopped. The operator responded quickly and helped guests leave the ride within 20 minutes. They were out of danger the entire time. Following the incident, the device underwent a thorough safety check and resumed operation."
