Music of the sea - unusual Zadar embankment (6 photos + 1 video)
The sea is not just a part of the ocean isolated by land. It is a mystical phenomenon, because it is not in vain with the bottomless depths and vast expanses are connected with a huge number of myths, legends and legends. But if the sea lacks magic, then you can give it a little help and turn an ordinary embankment into a special place.
This is exactly what the inhabitants of the Croatian city of Zadar did - popular resort on the Adriatic coast. The embankment was Quite ordinary, no frills.
And this was corrected by the local architect Nikola Bašić, in 2005 designed a real marine organ. Under the stone stairs on the coast, the length of which is approximately 70 meters, pipes of different diameters and lengths were placed at different angles.
When the waves run into the steps, then the pipes are forced out air. And a melody is born, written by the great musician-improviser - by the sea itself.
It is impossible to predict how the sea will sound today. After all, this selfish and free element. But anyway the melody will be special and unique, because the sound depends on constantly changing factors - wind speed, wave strength, the amount of water in pipes.
An attempt to restore the damaged embankment turned out to be so successful that it turned it into one of the main sights not only of the city, but also of the country.
