Many muscle cars were affordable in their time, but in our days the situation has changed a lot. Even though their era is long passed, these "beasts" are still in high demand. In this a selection of 10 models that sold at record prices at auctions.

1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 "Eleanor" - $1 million

When it comes to iconic movie cars, Eleanor from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds is usually at the top of my list of favorites. Designed by Steve Stanford, eleven Eleanors built for movie, were modified '67 Shelby GT500s with special body panels and centrally mounted high beam headlights. Equipped with a V8 engine with 400 hp.

The model has been sold at auction several times and is the most the high price was $1 million. This Mustang really unique, because of the 11 cars created, only three were on the move, and two of them were destroyed during filming. This makes the car incredibly valuable.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 - $1.1 million

This 1969 Chevy painted Hugger Orange set the record for the most expensive Camaro sold at auction in 2020 year. What made this Camaro ZL1 so special? Owner found original car engine block and installed it. It turned out completely original model.

A total of 69 copies were made and production was carried out only in 1969. This model was distinguished by a special air intake. It's easy to see why this car got such a price.

1971 Plymouth Cuda convertible - $1.1 million

1971 is the last year this model was produced with the option convertible. This is just one of the reasons the Cuda was sold on auction for a whopping $1.1 million.

It was originally in the Stephen Giuliano collection, where it restored very carefully. Equipped with a 440 6-BBL engine 7.2 liters V8. Developed a 395 hp engine. and 664 Nm of torque. Released 12 copies, so the price is justified.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6 - $1.2 million

In 1970, GM again allowed the production of powerful engines, and 454 LS6 was born. Installed this engine in a Chevelle and got a drag racer with 450 hp This model has not lost a single race in competitions.

After changing hands several times, he was at auction for an incredible $1.2 million. Unfortunately, a few years later, when put up for sale again, it wasn't worth that much.

1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona - $1.3 million

The classic Daytona looks pretty wild, with a huge wing and wedge-shaped front part. Daytonas were built for racing in NASCAR, and this '69 example was a rarity. Only 22 cars were built with the 426 engine and 4-speed manual transmission.

The green bucket seats are one of a kind, and the rest of the interior was quite luxurious for the time, with power seats and windows. No wonder this green car got that price.

1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T Convertible - $1.4 million

This Plum Crazy Purple convertible is one of five 4-speed Challenger with manual transmission, released in 1970. He can boast a Hemi V8 with a volume of 7 liters and 425 hp, two 4-chamber carburetors and 15-inch Rallye wheels. Max speed was 215 km/ h, acceleration to 100 km/ h - 5 seconds, and the consumption was 32 liters.

1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible - $2.7 million

It may seem strange that in more than five For decades, this Cuda has traveled only 44,000 kilometers. He is one of 17 released convertibles.

Equipped with a Hemi V8 engine and two 4-chamber carburetors, it was one of three built for export to Canada, and thought to be the only surviving one. To top it all off, it's also the only 1970 Cuda with a combination of Lemon Twist looks and brown salon.

1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible - $3.5 million

It is believed to be the only Cuda convertible with a manual 4-speed gearbox. It was sold for a staggering 3.5 million dollars when it was auctioned in Seattle. This Hemi is simple incredible, with a matching bright blue interior and exterior, dual chrome tailpipe and Shaker air intake. Under classic hood with 425 hp Hemi engine. Of course this a real beast on the road.

1968 Ford Mustang GT "Bullitt" - $3.74 million

Steve McQueen could make any car look cool. So happened to the Mustang which became a legend. This GT was used in in Bullitt, in which McQueen raced through the streets of San Francisco. To call it iconic would be an understatement.

This important piece of Hollywood history has an almost mundane own history, changed hands many times and was used in as a car for every day. But in 2020 was put up for auction and sold for a record amount.

1965 Mustang Shelby GT350R - $4 million

Probably the most expensive Mustang in the world. This Shelby GT350R 65 was the prototype of the racing model. Although it was made on its basis 34 more cars, this one is the only one of its kind.

With a modified V8 engine, Ken Miles led his first GT350R to victory in Green Valley. The car was nicknamed "Flying Mustang", as during that race he was photographed with wheels off the ground. $4 million for a muscle car that almost flying? Sounds right.
